Mariana was a loyal customer of mine who lived in our area. As a sensible response to a family problem lead to her developing a prototype mattress protector with many of the features this final product holds.  As a busy mother and professional bookkeeper, Mariana's time was busy enough without having to remake wetted beds each night.

Many of Mariana's friends asked her to make the Mattress Protector for them as well and she soon saw an unmet need in the community. The problem was that her cost of production made the product commercially unviable. Also, many potential clients would ask if her Mattress Protector was available to be examined in any Pharmacies.

I agreed to promote her Mattress Protector in my stores and in those of some colleagues.  The consumer interest level was surprisingly high.   Ongoing test marketing, revealed a market opportunity for Pharmacy - particularly selling to carers who wanted to make their life easier.

Mariana and I then worked on developing the product further- on improving the material softness, increasing absorbency and reducing the cost of manufacture.

Product development and component sourcing continued to substantially increase the margin for Pharmacists.

From a beginning Customer/Pharmacist relationship we have now fully developed a product that Pharmacy will be able to recommend both in the Incontinence and Baby Departments. The sizing, pricing, features are superior to anything else on the market and Pharmacy is now well poised to properly service this growing market for our aging population.
